Our Labor Day Newsletter is reminding us of all the work that our volunteer associations are doing throughout the year…and there is plenty coming up for your enjoyment.
Our events, and those of our members are the best way for French nationals and American Francophiles to get together in many fun, cultural and gastronomic gatherings, in some of the most beautiful places around Washington.

Back In Full Swing
The Comité Tricolore has several events coming up:
Dinner at Central Michel Richard on October 11, 2022 at 6:30 pm
The Solidarity Dinners are back with an amazing meal at Central Michel Richard, an American Bistro with a French Accent!
Join us to celebrate the late Chef Michel Richard’s lively, jovial style of delicious food.
After winning international acclaim for his flagship fine dining restaurant Citronelle in Washington, DC’s Georgetown neighborhood, Michel turned his creativity to the “democratization of gastronomy,” creating a restaurant that is welcoming and accessible.
40 tickets are available at the price of $ 95 per person, which consists of $ 70 for your meal (tax and tip included, drinks excluded) and $25 as a donation to the Comité Tricolore. The donation is tax deductible.

Le Déjeuner sur l’Herbe - Le dimanche 16 octobre 2022 de midi à 16h
Grand déjeuner en plein air, organisé par le Comité Tricolore pour la communauté française de Washington dans les jardins de l’Ambassade de France.
Le Déjeuner sur l’Herbe est un événement destiné à la communauté française, qui a pour but de promouvoir et faire connaître les associations membres du Comité Tricolore, en particulier auprès des nouveaux arrivants.
Passez une après-midi familiale avec : Jeux et animations pour les enfants ; coin lecture pour les plus grands ; musique Live ; et au menu: plat chaud, salades variées et desserts, cafés, boissons sans alcool et vins français au cash bar.

This event organized by Washington Acceuil (WAA) is great for Francophones and /or Francophiles of all nationalities who wish to practice French through a series of activities.

Music To Your Ears

Saxophonist Patrick Zimmerli & pianist Thomas Enhco, Tuesday, September 6, 2022 from 7:30 to 9:30 pm
This concert will feature famous French pianist Thomas Enhco who is performing more than 100 concerts per year. He will play with Patrick Zimmerli, a composer, producer, and saxophonist who has worked with leading artists in the classical and jazz worlds.
He has achieved international recognition with a unique combination of improvisations of jazz standards, pop songs and themes from great classical composers.

Music of Friends Concert, Sunday, September 11, 2022 from 3 to 4:30 pm
This concert is organized by Friendship Place for the benefit of those experiencing homelessness or facing COVID-19 related financial hardship.
The Comité-Tricolore and the French community have been quite involved with the organization during the Covid-19 crisis. Click here to know more about our response to the Covid-19 crisis.
It will feature nationally-acclaimed musicians playing an array of short selections by Bach, Beethoven, Schubert, Mozart and some Jazz duos and trios by Paul Schoenfield, Morton Gould and De Freitas.
The event’s musicians hail from organizations such as the National Symphony Orchestra, the Eclipse Chamber Orchestra, and the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra.

At the Austrian Embassy
The Magic Flute in Concert, September 23 at 7 pm
Maestro Julien Benichou, from our member l’Amicale des Musiciens Francophones leads the Washington Opera Society (WSO) orchestra and a cast of stellar singers in Mozart’s timeless classic, the Magic Flute.
Following the performance there will be a catered reception featuring delicacies and select Austrian wines curated by the Austrian Embassy. Doors open at 6:30pm.

Film Festival “BELMONDO RETROSPECTIVE”, September 23 to October 14
Do not miss the Alliance Française de Washington Film Festival “BELMONDO RETROSPECTIVE”. We will post the details about the venues on Facebook and in our next Newsletter.
Belmondo was an icon of the French New Wave, who became an overnight star after playing a gangster in Godard’s “Breathless” and became France’s most beloved actor. The retrospective will be about his early career.
The first film to be presented will be “Une femme est une femme” at the Maison Française on September 23rd at 7:30 pm. Click here to reserve your tickets.

Close To Our Hearts
Our member The Academy Culinaire de France has announced the passing of Chef Roland Mesnier, a strong support to the French community, and the Comité Tricolore.
Hired in 1979 by first lady Rosalyn Carter, Roland Mesnier began his career as White House Executive Pastry Chef and went on to become the longest tenured chef ever to serve there under five Presidents: 27 years.
He was made a Chevalier of the Legion d’Honneur in 2005, the highest honor bestowed on French citizens and a Chevalier of the Mérite Agricole by the French government.
