Les Expressions Françaises
Rien ne sert de courir, il faut partir à point
Slow and steady wins the race
The expression comes from the famous fable "The Hare and the Tortoise" by Jean de La Fontaine, written in 1668: the hare, too sure of his victory, procrastinated, while the determined tortoise progressed slowly but surely, ultimately winning the race.
Jean de La Fontaine (1621 - 1695), a storyteller and a poet was inspired by the fables of Aesop, a Greek fabulist who is believed to have lived in the 6th century BC and written "The Tortoise and the Hare" !
The moral is: do not rush, take the time to check things out and act.
In our case, since there are so many offerings in December take the time to check what we offer, reserve and save the dates before it is too late or you wish you had not committed something else on that date!
If you are fascinated by La Fontaine and happen to be in Paris not far from the Champs Elysées, a museum opened its doors in September. La Cité Immersive des Fables offers an interactive journey covering more than 1,000 square meters, that allows you to relive La Fontaine’s most famous fables in an innovative staging combining narration, technology, and museography. An exceptional cast with renowned actors from French films and the Comédie-Française retell the stories in an educational and entertaining way.
