Leaving a Legacy

Leave a Lasting Legacy: How to Support a Cause You Care About

Planning for the future and creating the legacy you wish to leave is one of the most effective ways to ensure a lasting impact.

If you want to make a difference even after you’re gone, there are several ways you can leave a gift through your will, trust or via beneficiary designation.

You can use the following language:

“I give to Tricolore Committee, a not-for-profit corporation with its principal office at 4101 Reservoir Road, NW, Washington, DC 20007-2186 ,[the sum of $__________ or_____% of my residuary estate] to be used for its general purposes.” Its Federal tax ID (EIN) is 52-2095542.

If you are interested in making a legacy gift to Tricolore Committee or have any questions, please contact us at [email protected].

If you have named Tricolore Committee in your will or trust, please let us know so we can ensure that your gift is used according to your wishes.

Notifying us of your plans will enable us to plan for the use of your future gift. We will keep your name and gift in strict confidence if you prefer to remain anonymous.

Types of legacy gifts:

  • Specific Gift: Leave a set amount or a specific item, like property or investments.
  • Residuary Gift: Donate what’s left of your estate after other gifts are made.
  • Percentage Gift: Give a percentage of your estate, so it adjusts with the value of your assets.
  • Contingent Gift: Make a gift if something happens (like a family member passing away).
  • Charitable Trusts: Set up a trust that supports the nonprofit and provides you (or loved ones) with income during your lifetime.
  • Beneficiary Designation: Name a nonprofit as a beneficiary of your retirement accounts, life insurance, or donor-advised fund.

Consult with your financial advisor or estate planner to find the best way to make an impact that reflects your values and helps the causes you care about.
