The Comité Tricolore is inviting you to Roberto Donna’s Italian restaurant in Vienna, VA!

Roberto Donna was born in Turin, Italy, where he enrolled in culinary school at the age of 13. He came to the United States at the age of 19, working in an Italian restaurant on K Street in Washington, D.C.
In 1984, Donna opened Galileo in Dupont Circle, which was an immediate success. The restaurant only seated 50, and in the early days, even Vice-President George H. W. Bush could not secure a last-minute reservation. Donna and his partner Savino Recine opened more casual trattorias, Primi Piatti, and then I Matti, serving pizza and pasta.
Donna published a cookbook, Cooking in Piedmont, in 1996.
Donna won the 1996 James Beard Foundation Award for Best Chef: Mid-Atlantic. The next year, Galileo was named one of the "10 Best Italian Restaurants in America" by Wine Spectator. The Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington recognized Donna as the "Chef of the Year" in 1990, and the "Restaurateur of the Year" in 1995. Donna was invited to Rome in 1996 to receive the Insegna del Ristorante Italiano, awarded by the Italian Government in recognition of serving the best authentic Italian food outside Italy.

In February, 2022, Roberto’s opened in Vienna, Virginia, with Donna as chef.

On November 13, we will honor David Deshaies as the deserving recipient of the Comité Tricolore’s 2023 Victor Obadia Humanitarian Trophy Award. This year’s special ceremony also offers guests an opportunity to celebrate as Madame Jacqueline Abrams is presented with ordre national du Mérite, one of the highest honors provided by the French government. Madame Abrams was a dear friend of Victor Obadia’s and a dedicated member of the Comite Tricolore. Victor was a member of the ordre du Mérite and President of the AAMFOM, organization representing awardees in the USA.

Claudio Pirollo grew up in Belgium where he soon discovered his passion for cooking as he wandered around his father’s fine Italian épicerie (grocery store) and watched his mother prepare dinner every day. The Comité Tricolore is proud to create the VICTOR OBADIA HUMANITARIAN TROPHY in memory of our first President.
For more than forty years, Victor Obadia worked tirelessly to introduce French culture, co-found numerous non-profit organizations to build relationships in the French and American communities, and raise funds for those in need in the Washington, DC area.

In order to carry on Victor’s legacy, the Comité Tricolore is proud to introduce the first Victor Obadia Humanitarian Trophy in recognition of our friend Victor who dedicated his life strengthening ties in the French-American community. This trophy will be presented to an outstanding individual to honor their achievements, benevolent actions and principles of generosity and compassion.

Marie-Yasmine Auclert is the Victor Obadia Humanitarian Trophy laureate for 2021.

Marie, a French citizen, is rewarded for her voluntary work for three different organizations. She is co-leader of GRE (Groupe Reflexion Ecoute), a support group for French and francophone expats in the DC area and she is co-leader of the Washington Accueil Association’s Charity Club, which raises money for various causes and organizes food and clothes drives. She is a volunteer local representative for Mayan Hands, a nonprofit dedicated to providing economic and educational opportunities to Mayan women and girls in Guatemala.

Give a hot meal to the less fortunate and back local restaurants.

La Casa-Friendship Place is a building in Columbia Heights, DC that accommodates 40 men who have been previously homeless and who are very vulnerable in terms of their physical or psychological health.

On site, a staff of some 10 people helps them manage their medical needs and improve their living conditions.

Each of them has a small individual studio and has to manage his own food budget. Their income is very limited or even non-existent. During the pandemic, residents find it more difficult to go to the supermarket to do their shopping. Friendship Place which is managing the center has created a pantry to compensate for the lack of resources, but no hot meals are ever served.

Our Project :

In partnership with the French Embassy, the Comité Tricolore is committed to :

• Provide one hot meal per week (or to be reheated) to the residents and support staff of La Casa.
• Help the restaurants and chefs of our region who are partners of the Comité Tricolore by purchasing meals for the residents of La Casa.
• Do so by promoting the French values of friendship and solidarity through good, healthy meals.

We have delivered 1155 good hot meals!

In addition, Patisserie Poupon and Fresh Baguette delivered desserts to Hospital patients and staff in the DC area.
Cote D’Or restaurant delivered meals to the National Children Hospital

All deliveries were done by volunteers of the Comité Tricolore and the French Consulate and Embassy.

Meet Chef Jacques Imperato while helping the community! Your participation will help the restaurant AND the community since the price of the ticket includes the price of the meal which goes entirely to the restaurant plus a tax-deductible donation to the CT which goes entirely to one of our beneficiaries.
Vegetarian options are available.
20 tickets are available at the price of $ 75 per person, which consists of $50 for your meal (tax and tip included, drinks excluded) and $25 as a donation to the Comité Tricolore (larger donations are of course encouraged). The donation is tax deductible. Parties of 2 minimum and 6 maximum.
All COVID 19 sanitary protocols will be respected. You will be asked to wear a mask when entering the restaurant and walking around. Your party will be assigned a separate table unless you indicate wishing to join another party. Please do not attend if you are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19. Tables are for 6 people maximum (COVID-19 protocol) and 2 minimum.

C’est une nouvelle année mais les conditions de la vie ressemblant à celles de l’année dernière.

L’arrivée du vaccin suscite l’espoir d’une amélioration dans les prochains mois.

1. Intervention de Dr. Agnès Poirier, Conseiller Agricole : L’agro-alimentaire - Le commerce international - Import et export - Les avantages et les contraintes imposées par les douanes - les impacts pour les achats de produits alimentaires pour les restaurants et commerce de détails.

Your participation will help the restaurant scene in DC AND the community since the price of the ticket includes the price of the meal (carefully thought out for us) which will go entirely to the restaurant plus a donation to the CT which will go entirely to one of our beneficiaries and is tax deductible.As an example, we recently paid the Internet bill of a single mother so that her son can continue his schooling.
Having a delicious meal and feeling good about pitching in for your community — what could be better? You will also get to meet the (masked 😊) chef and some (masked 😊) members of the Comité Tricolore and/or personalities of the French-American diplomatic or social scene.
At these dinner, Eve Chauchard (CT President), Jean-Philippe Krukowicz (CT Vice-President-Events) will be present.

It has been a year now since our friend Victor left us, but he still is very much with us in spirit.

On October 27th, let’s celebrate Victor’s life on the first anniversary of his passing. We will have videos and testimonials from friends and family that will remind us of all the fun and exciting times we had with him.

A la place, nous vous proposons un événement de rencontre de nos Associations et Organisations membres, au nombre de 21. Nous célébrerons tout particulièrement notre nouveau membre « Alsace Washington DC Association » avec des animations bien Alsaciennes ! Vous pourrez aussi vous informer sur les services du Consulat.
L’événement aura lieu dans les jardins.
