AMERICAN FRIENDS OF CHARTRES (AFC) was founded in 2005 as a non-profit organization 501(c)3. AFC raises funds in the United States to provide financing for the conservation of the cathedral of Notre-Dame de Chartres, in particular its stained-glass windows and sculptures. The cathedral is a historic site of unparalleled artistic, intellectual, cultural, and spiritual influence and was designated as a monument of paramount cultural significance on UNESCO’s World Heritage List in 1979. AFC also fosters the vibrancy of the cathedral through cultural and educational programs that contribute to strengthening the friendship between France and the United States.
AFC is a 501(3)(c) non-profit organization. Thus, all contributions are tax deductible in the United States to the extent allowed by law.
