On November 13, we will honor David Deshaies as the deserving recipient of the Comité Tricolore’s 2023 Victor Obadia Humanitarian Trophy Award. This year’s special ceremony also offers guests an opportunity to celebrate as Madame Jacqueline Abrams is presented with ordre national du Mérite, one of the highest honors provided by the French government. Madame Abrams was a dear friend of Victor Obadia’s and a dedicated member of the Comite Tricolore. Victor was a member of the ordre du Mérite and President of the AAMFOM, organization representing awardees in the USA.

On October 30, we will get to try the brand new restaurant Claudio’s Table opened by Chef Claudio Pirollo, from Et Voilà ! (Remember, we had a wonderful Solidarity Dinner at Et Voilà in Mai 2021 !)

Claudio Pirollo grew up in Belgium where he soon discovered his passion for cooking as he wandered around his father’s fine Italian épicerie (grocery store) and watched his mother prepare dinner every day. The dual influence of Italy and Belgium triggered Chef Pirollo’s aspirations to develop his knowledge and experience with different flavors.

Meet the new La Chaumière owner, Gil Fornaris ! Gil started his restaurant career in his hometown of Nice, France, and continued in the United States. The word “Convivial,” like Chef/Owner Cedric Maupillier, is both French & American. Defined as “fond of feasting, eating, and good company,” it is not just our name, but our credo.
Chef Cedric has prepared a festive Holiday menu honoring French traditions. How about tasting some "Boudin blanc de Noël" or "Bûche de Noël" ?

The Comité Tricolore is proud to create the VICTOR OBADIA HUMANITARIAN TROPHY in memory of our first President.
For more than forty years, Victor Obadia worked tirelessly to introduce French culture, co-found numerous non-profit organizations to build relationships in the French and American communities, and raise funds for those in need in the Washington, DC area.
In order to carry on Victor’s legacy, the Comité Tricolore is proud to introduce the first Victor Obadia Humanitarian Trophy in recognition of our friend Victor who dedicated his life strengthening ties in the French-American community. This trophy will be presented to an outstanding individual to honor their achievements, benevolent actions and principles of generosity and compassion.
Marie-Yasmine Auclert is the Victor Obadia Humanitarian Trophy laureate for 2021.
Marie, a French citizen, is rewarded for her voluntary work for three different organizations. She is co-leader of GRE (Groupe Reflexion Ecoute), a support group for French and francophone expats in the DC area and she is co-leader of the Washington Accueil Association’s Charity Club, which raises money for various causes and organizes food and clothes drives. She is a volunteer local representative for Mayan Hands, a nonprofit dedicated to providing economic and educational opportunities to Mayan women and girls in Guatemala.

La Casa-Friendship Place is a building in Columbia Heights, DC that accommodates 40 men who have been previously homeless and who are very vulnerable in terms of their physical or psychological health.
On site, a staff of some 10 people helps them manage their medical needs and improve their living conditions.
Each of them has a small individual studio and has to manage his own food budget. Their income is very limited or even non-existent. During the pandemic, residents find it more difficult to go to the supermarket to do their shopping. Friendship Place which is managing the center has created a pantry to compensate for the lack of resources, but no hot meals are ever served.
In partnership with the French Embassy, the Comité Tricolore is committed to :

In addition, Patisserie Poupon and Fresh Baguette delivered desserts to Hospital patients and staff in the DC area.

It has been a year now since our friend Victor left us, but he still is very much with us in spirit.
On October 27th, let’s celebrate Victor’s life on the first anniversary of his passing. We will have videos and testimonials from friends and family that will remind us of all the fun and exciting times we had with him.
